John G. Sylvia

John Sylvia joined Texas Pacific Group in 1997 and helped co-found one of its sponsored funds - Aqua International Partners (“Aqua”). The Aqua private equity funds total $315mm and target investments in growth equity companies engaged in water, renewable energy or alternative fuels activity. Prior to joining Aqua, he was Chief Financial Officer of CalEnergy Co. Inc., a publicly listed global independent diversified energy company (now named MidAmerican Energy Holdings Inc.) In addition to general corporate finance, Mr. Sylvia had responsibility for global mergers and acquisitions which included investments in renewable resources. He also served as a director and officer of Northern Electric plc, Magma Power Co., CE Indonesia, and CE Philippines. Prior to joining CalEnergy Co. in 1988, Mr. Sylvia served in executive positions with international financial institutions and private investment firms focused on management-led acquisitions. Mr. Sylvia also served from 1985-1990 as an Adjunct Professor of Applied Economics and Finance at the University of San Francisco. Mr Sylvia holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Santa Clara University. Mr. Sylvia sits on the boards of Scanship Systems, Grupo Rotoplas and Sylvan Source.
