Synopsis

Current global trends in energy supply and consumption are patently unsustainable,” according to IEA’s World Energy Outlook 2008. Their prescription “…is nothing short of an energy revolution.” This energy revolution requires the world to think about energy in new and innovative ways. Distributed nuclear power applications are one such innovation. This session will discuss small reactor applications for both the developed and developing world. Hybrid energy systems are yet another new approach. Much like our modern hybrid electric car, these hybrid energy systems will combine nuclear and fossil or renewable and nuclear technologies to yield improved efficiency and reduced environmental impact. Join us in these two unique sessions and share a vision of our evolving 21st century energy future.
